COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."  Carl Yung

It is not always the circumstances that upset us, but often times the meaning we attach to them and the perspectives we take. Cognitive Therapy gives us the opportunity to question our automatic thought patterns, and to discover the unconscious link between our behaviors, thoughts and feelings. Learning how to identify faulty thinking, and self-limiting behaviors allows for a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, helping you to develop new skills to better meet the challenges, adversities, stressors, and setbacks that life brings. Cognitive therapy provides a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving that is short-term and goal oriented.

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a scientific, biological and experiential based method of restoring resilience and healing trauma through nervous system regulation. Based on Dr. Peter Levine's study of our most basic and primitive survival defenses, "fight", "flight", "freeze", trauma occurs when we are unable to release blocked energies created during times of stress.  SE is a body first approach to treating symptoms of trauma, allowing for profound recovery to be accomplished by tracking sensations in the body, without the need to reclaim memories or to retell your story.

GRIEF RECOVERY METHOD

The Grief Recovery Method is an action-based program for anyone ready to move beyond the pain, isolation and heartbreak of loss. Death, divorce or a number of other factors can contribute to feelings of loss throughout our lifetime. As a Grief Recovery Method Specialist, I am able to provide you with the tools you need to recover from loss, and to support your journey as you reengage in a more fulfilling life once again.

ART OF LETTING GO

This is a process of coming to know yourself and your relationship to your things in an entirely new way. It is about slowing down, getting quiet, and allowing yourself to become curious about what you want your life to look like, without judgment and without the story of your past.

"Therapy gives clients a safe relationship in which to explore their inner worlds and to consider taking risks in the external one. It provides them with another point of view on their own particular mixed-up universe."
